Isn't this like. . . thousands of years before A New Hope? Why do the sith/imperial ships look the SAME as the ones THOUSANDS of years later?

I'm a little disappointed. You would think they could invent some new style and still make it seem sith. . . perhaps this is just catering to the masses who see star wars and just expect a certain image?

I always wondered why the starwars universe sort of plateaued technology wise. You see the old republic games which is as far in the starwars past that I've seen and you see the movies and the technology is essentially the same. You figure they would have some sort of technological advances in that time...

Yeah, and it feels almost that it wasn't meant to be that way. In the Thrawn trilogy they pretty much stated that the Katana fleet was obsolete. The technology advanced even between A New Hope and Jedi with the introduction of new fighters and stuff.

And then somebody had the bright idea to back-port all the technology to the past. I don't get it.

I mean players want to play in a technologically advanced world, which is the whole point of star wars. It would be hard to backtrack 1000 years and convincingly be 1000 years back technology wise. If anything games should be 1000 years after the movies, you can have the same technology and more

It might be to show how stagnated the Republic had gotten or something, leading to the acceptance of Empire. On another note: was anyone else a little disappointed by http://www.swtor.com/media/trailers/e3-multiplayer-demo ? It's basically confirming the game is trinity based. I knew to expect it, but still a little disappointed.

when you say trinity based game play you mean Healer/Tank/DPS? Yeah I'm slightly disappointed with that too, but I suppose that is more or less unavoidable in a class based game instead of a skills based game

Anyone else notice in this video they call the sith "imps" and imperials? isn't that a darth sedious era sith thing? I though previously they were just known as the sith.

Anyway I am kinda disappointed in how it is turning into a cookie cutter type casting system too.

I still think swg had the coolest system with the free form pick skills from different trees and go in different directions as you wished.

If there are no objections I'm going to remove the embedded video and replace it with a link.

I'm sick of the auto-play and haven't been able to figure out how to turn it off!!!
